The Adventures of Flaming Gorge

So, like I said in the previous post, I went to Flaming Gorge with the Baxter's over the 24th of July weekend and had tons of fun. As much as I love these trips and look forward to it, I was a little wary to go this year because Chad couldn't come because of work, and taking Jayci by myself seemed like it might be more of a challenge than fun. But, at the last minute I decided to go and was glad I did because it turned out to be lots of fun and Jayci was pretty good, plus, I had a few good helpers, that's always nice. So here is some of the fun we had. (If you notice, there are no fishing pics because this year I skipped out on the 5 am fishing trips that I usually attend when Chad's there. I didn't feel too bad about it either, sorry Chad).

Tubing fun with Boston and Madison. I'm not a huge fan of the tube, so I loved going with the kids because we went pretty slow the whole time. They loved it.

I think Michelle wanted to be on my blog because she secretly took this picture of herself. Cute, Michelle!

Madi and Christian

Wet dog. She hated being thrown in, but we did it anyway to cool her off. Sorry, Molly.

This was the worst part of the trip- the strangling life jacket! Poor Jayci could barely move in this thing. I had to stand her up or she was strangled. She looks happy, but that's just because we gave her some licorice. She could barely get it to her mouth.

Does anyone know if you can get a smaller, more comfy baby life jacket? I'd be interested.

We kind of cheated and stuck her in her carseat under the dash of the boat. She took a nice 2 1/2 hour nap. Otherwise, we wouldn't have survived!

My favorite- wakeboarding! They didn't get any shots of my sweet jumps.

Grandma Baxter feeding Jayci a pickle. She had to fish a big chunk out of her mouth so she wouldn't choke and Jayci threw a HUGE fit. But then we gave her more pickle and she was happy again. She doesn't take after me, I hate pickles! Chad's not a huge fan either, actually.

Don't be deceived, just because we had a fire doesn't mean it was cold. It's real hot there. Don't ask me why we had it going in the middle of the day. Luckily it stormed a little to cool things off.

Cute cousins

Michelle bought Jayci this cute swimsuit at a store nearby because she didn't have one. It was so cute on her. Thanks, Michelle!

Jayci's top ten loves and hates

Well, my camera is in my in-law's boat after a great boating trip to Flaming Gorge over the 24th of July weekend, so sorry there are no new pics. I'll have to post those when I get it back. But, for now, I thought it would be fun to tell a little about Jayci right now by listing her top tens at nine months.

Hates:

10- baby food: peas, green beans, carrots, turkey dinner

9- people touching her hands

8- cuddling (unless she's sick like she's been this week-nice only for that one reason)

7- when someone takes something away that she wants (especially food out of her mouth! I wouldn't try it if I were you!)

6- watching her mom walk out of the room

5- being held instead of put down for bedtime

4- not getting any of my food when I'm eating

3- being sick (who doesn't? She's got ear infections right now and she is not happy, and neither am I!)

2- immunizations

1- the vacuum (even just being able to see it before and after I vacuum makes her very nervous)

Loves:

10- sitting up playing with toys

9- splashing in the tub

8-being around little kids, especially all her fun cousins

7- standing up while holding on to something

6- eating mommy and daddy's food

5- crinkling, ripping, and EATING paper

4- playing in the dirt (a recent discovery)

3- going outside to see the goats and dog

2- swinging, stroller rides

1- her soft, pink blanket (she has to cuddle with it while she sleeps and loves to chew on the corners. I don't know if it is hereditary or just chance, but I used to shove my blanket in my mouth and scare the babysitters because they thought I would choke. I used it when I slept until.. well, the night before I got married. Figured it was a good time to give it up. Like mother, like daughter)
