My Mission Statement

Okay, so I've debated posting this for a couple of months now, but for some reason just feel like I should. I don't bear my testimony to people too often and kind of feel like this is a way I can. I got a great book from my mom for Christmas titled "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens" by Sean Covey. Yes, his dad is the one who wrote "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People", which I also have from the Previous Christmas, but haven't been able to finish yet. I know I'm not a teen, but this book is really great because it is more fun and simple to read and has great stories, pictures, comics, etc. I guess I'm still a kid at heart. Anyway, I would recommend it to anyone. It really is a good motivator to be a better person and leader. In one chapter it talked about writing your own mission statement. I kind of put it off, thinking it would be too hard, but after completing the book I decided to give it a try. So on the drive home from a trip to Zions National Park, I attempted to write one, and it wasn't too hard. It came really easy to me and really was quite inspiring. I would suggest everyone write their own mission statement to follow through life. I hope I can live up to this because these things are really important to me, and something about "being true" always catches my attention. Just the fact that some people can be true AT ALL TIMES intrigues me, and is my life-long goal to keep working towards. I am so sad to hear about fading morals and can't express enough how strongly I feel the importance of living a virtuous life is. Now, these are things I'm working towards everyday of my life, not there yet.

Jeni’s Mission Statement

I WILL ALWAYS BE TRUE to:
1. MY GOD
· Keep the commandments
· Stand up for God and never deny Him
· Always strive to be like Him
· Love God above all others
· Trust in God
· “Stand as a witness of God at all times, and in all things, and in all places”
2. MYSELF
· Do what I know is right, even if it’s not popular
· Always stand up for what I believe
· Always be my best
· Don’t let others’ negative actions influence or affect me
· Live up to what I want to become
· “Where ere thou art, act well thy part” President David O. McKay
3. MY HUSBAND
· Never leave him
· Respect his opinions
· Be his helpmeet
· Always love him
· Sacrifice for him and our relationship
· Stand up for him
· “Cleave unto him and no one else”
· “Women, adore your husbands. Being adorable is not a prerequisite of being adored.”
President Gordon B. Hinckley
4. MY CHILDREN
· Raise them with honor
· Always love them no matter what
· Teach them the gospel and the way to live in righteousness
· Respect them
· Stand up for them
· “We should never permit ourselves to do anything that we are not willing to see our
children do. We should set them an example that we wish them to imitate.” President
Thomas S. Monsen
“They were [women] who were true at all times in whatsoever thing they were entrusted.” Alma 53:20

Thanks for sharing Jeni. I had a dream about you last night, and so first thing this morning I checked your blog. I guess it's because Melinda e-mailed me yesterday and wrote about some old memories. I diddo those who have said you are inspiring and an example. This makes me remember how you kept your goal of reading scriptures every day (4 pages), even at sleep overs. Your garden looks awesome, and Jaycee is so big! I love her curly hair. Take care friend, and know you're missed.
